ProgenyHealth® Announces New Chief Medical Officer

Plymouth Meeting, PA, September 3, 2020 – ProgenyHealth, LLC, provider of comprehensive utilization management, case management, and payment validation & assurance solutions for premature and medically complex newborns, today announced the appointment of a new Chief Medical Officer, Linda Genen, MD, MPH to lead the company’s Medical Management and Quality efforts, as well as leverage the company’s expansive clinical data to chart new paths aimed at improving an infant’s health, as well as the health and well-being of their family.  Dr. Genen will assume the role formerly held by Dr. Steven Richardson, who served as the company’s clinical leader for four years prior to his planned retirement.

A seasoned managed care executive, Dr. Genen most recently worked as a Senior Research Fellow at UnitedHealth Group where she served as Chief Medical Officer for Maternal Child Health within Research & Development. She previously held leadership positions in the Maternal Health and Neonatal divisions at Optum, and served as Medical Director at Alere, a point-of-care diagnostic and health management company. Dr. Genen is a board-certified Neonatologist who completed her pediatric residency at Columbia-Presbyterian in NY, followed by a fellowship in Neonatology and a Master’s in Public Health from Yale University. She also contributes as an attending neonatologist and educator at Northwell Health-Cohen Children’s Medical Center & North Shore University Hospital.

“We are so pleased to have someone of Dr. Genen’s caliber join our organization,” said Ellen Stang, MD, CEO of Progeny Health. “Her track record as a clinician, researcher, executive and leader in public health will be invaluable to our clients, patients and provider partners, and central to our company’s expanding commitment to further enhance the health and well-being of infants and families.”

“As a neonatologist and physician executive, I have had the benefit of seeing various aspects of healthcare. The work that ProgenyHealth focuses on highlights the importance of specialized programs that support our most vulnerable populations,” commented Linda Genen, MD, MPH. “The company’s proven ability to help clients better manage costly NICU cases and improve quality outcomes through its proprietary Baby Trax® technology platform represents true innovation, and I am thrilled to be able to contribute to ProgenyHealth’s vision and future growth.”
